I Slept With Joey Ramone

I'm currently reading I Slept With Joey Ramone, the title is not what you think, this was written by Jeffry Ross Hyman AKA Joey Ramone's  brother, Mickey Leigh. I haven't gotten too far in it yet but I'm really loving it a lot, it's made me cry a few times. Now I have a better understanding of the meaning behind songs like like "Bad Brain", "Teenage Lobotomy", "We're A Happy Family", "The KKK Took My Baby Away", and a few others. I wont spoil it for you, but if you're a Ramones fan, this is a must read. I think it would be a great read even if you weren't a fan, but who doesn't like the Ramones? I wish I read this when it first came out. I've always been a Joey Ramone fangirl, not as in having a crush on him I just felt  touched by his voice/the lyrics to his songs and I guess I have this weird emotional attachment, as a fan. It's hard for me to explain but I feel like other fans may understand. I'm looking forward to reading the rest. I know I will probably lose it when I get to the parts about his passing... I'm really glad I picked this as my first read of 2013.

    1. i think you nailed it with that description, there was always something comforting to me about their music, not just because it was so fun but also in the way that you can relate when you're young and a weirdo... and yeah we should just get the rest of the books we talked about now!

  2. I was never big on The Ramones, but I've watched documentaries where they were featured and it definitely made me appreciate them and their music and just what they did more, especially as I got older. So, I definitely have a new found respect for them [it blossomed a couple of years ago]. I'd definitely want to check it out, it sounds like a good read!
